Course Overview

Our Professional Interpreter Program is offered exclusively through our online platform.

This 9 to 12 month program provides candidates the opportunity to select courses from a list of approved courses. Students must successfully complete all the 4 courses with a grade of 70% or better to receive a Certificate of Completion in the Professional Interpreter Program.

Interpreting Civil Proceedings – $545.00

Pre-requisite: Students should possess written skills in both English and Spanish at high school level or above.

Recommendation: Due to the advanced level of training in this course, students must have a minimum of at least 2-3 years experience working as interpreters or have completed a certificate program.

Tip: For optimum results, it is recommended that students practice 1 to 1.5 hours daily in the Online Interpreting Laboratory.

This course covers family law proceedings, such as petition for dissolution of marriage actions, custody of minors, visitation rights, domestic violence, restraining orders, civil harassment orders, conservatorship, and emancipation of minors. Furthermore, this course includes unlawful detainers, probate proceedings, contract law, corporate law, malpractice, and personal injury actions. The protocol for depositions and the instructions to deponents are part of this course. This course consists of 27 hours of instruction, and two live over-the-phone assessments in real-time with a certified interpreter, followed by a detailed written report. It also includes unlimited 24/7 access to our Online Interpreting Laboratory at no extra cost.

Interpreting in Immigration Court – $545.00

Pre-requisite: Students should possess written skills in both English and Spanish at high school level or above.

Recommendation: This course is recommended for students who have already completed our full Court Interpreter program. These students will also receive a Certificate of Completion as an Immigration Court Interpreter upon successful completion of this course.

Tip: For optimum results, it is recommended that students practice 1 to 1.5 hours daily in the Online Interpreting Laboratory.

This course covers immigration terminology and proceedings such as removal proceedings, bond re-determination, relief from removal, asylum, and expedited removal. We also cover simultaneous techniques applied to increase speed in the delivery. This course consists of 27 hours of instruction, and two live over-the-phone assessments in real-time with a certified interpreter, followed by a detailed written report. It also includes unlimited 24/7 access to our Online Interpreting Laboratory and manual with over 35 practices in immigration proceedings to challenge and improve the student’s ability in the consecutive and simultaneous techniques at no extra cost.

Did you know? Students who have completed a full Court Interpreter program and our Immigration Court Interpreter course (two certificates are issued), are deemed highly qualified candidates for the Immigration Court Interpreter qualifying exam.

Advanced Criminal Proceedings II - Professional – $398.00

Pre-requisite: Students should possess written skills in both English and Spanish at high school level or above.

Recommendation: Due to the advanced level of training in this course, students must have completed the entire Court Interpreter Program.

Tip: For optimum results, it is recommended that students practice 1 to 1.5 hours daily in the Online Interpreting Laboratory.

This course includes advanced techniques in the consecutive, simultaneous and sight translation modes of interpreting. Advanced legal terminology is presented along with re-structuring techniques in the delivery of the sight readings. Accuracy in the delivery is measured with the goal of achieving an accuracy rate of 80% or better. This course consists of 15 hours of instruction. It also includes unlimited 24/7 access to our Online Interpreting Laboratory at no extra cost.

Interpreting as an Analytical Linguist – $545.00

Pre-requisite: Students should possess written skills in both English and Spanish at high school level or above.

Tip: For optimum results, it is recommended that students practice 1 to 1.5 hours daily in the Online Interpreting Laboratory.

This course covers protocol in writing a summary and a transcript of a wiretap conversation, protocol for verbal summaries, coded words,  Spanish and English syntax, and drug and colloquial terminology. Spanish and English syntax is covered to enhance the student’s ability to write transcript summaries in Spanish and English. This course consists of 27 hours of instruction, and two live over-the-phone assessments in real-time with a certified interpreter, followed by a detailed written report. It also includes unlimited 24/7 access to our Online Interpreting Laboratory at no extra cost.
