Certificate in Applied AI for Interpreters and Translators

Learn how to design, customize, and build AI-powered solutions for the language-services industry

WHY SHOULD I TAKE THIS PROGRAM?

Turn Your Professional Experience Into Practical AI Skills

Artificial intelligence is changing the language-services profession and creating opportunities that did not exist for interpreters and translators just a few years ago. The question is no longer simply whether AI will affect the profession. The more important question is what role experienced language professionals will play in designing, testing, evaluating, and improving this technology.

The Certificate in Applied AI for Interpreters and Translators teaches you how to turn your linguistic knowledge, terminology expertise, professional judgment, and real-world experience into practical AI-powered resources. This is not a basic course about using existing AI platforms. You will learn how AI applications are structured, designed, tested, evaluated, and improved—without needing a programming or technical background.

Two Modules | 16 Hours Per Module | 32 Total Hours | On-Demand | 16 Weeks to Complete Each Module

PRICE PER MODULE

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS PROGRAM?

Your Experience Is the Foundation

The certificate is designed for experienced interpreters, translators, instructors, and other language professionals who have developed valuable professional knowledge and want to transform that expertise into AI-powered tools, workflows, and applications.

The program is especially valuable for professionals with experience in:

There are no formal prerequisites, and you do not need to be a programmer or have a technical background. Participants should be proficient in English and the other language they use professionally.

You already possess one of the most difficult assets to acquire: professional knowledge grounded in language, terminology, context, culture, ethics, and real-world experience. The certificate teaches you how to combine that expertise with artificial intelligence.

HOW WILL THIS PROGRAM BENEFIT ME?

Expand the Professional Value of Your Language Expertise

LANGUAGE PROFESSIONALS

Organizations implementing AI need more than programmers. They need professionals who understand language, terminology, context, register, localization, interpreting standards, and the realities of professional communication.

APPLY YOUR EXPERTISE

The certificate helps you apply that expertise to evaluate AI-generated language, identify errors, build specialized knowledge resources, define workflow requirements, and collaborate more effectively with programmers and AI engineers.

SUPPORT EMERGING WORK

These skills can support emerging work in linguistic quality assurance, AI evaluation, terminology management, prompt and workflow design, interpreter training, assessment, and language-technology implementation.

Apply What You Learn Through Hands-On Practice

Across both modules, the AI Laboratory turns each major course concept into structured practice. You will create and organize specialized knowledge resources, develop and test prompts, map workflows and decision points, and use no-code technology to connect AI models, data, and processes.

You will follow an iterative process in which you design, test, evaluate, modify, and improve your work based on actual AI performance.

The complete certificate includes 16 hours of instruction and 16 hours of AI Laboratory practice, for a 32-hour total learning experience.

AI Laboratory Activities Include:

  • Creating and organizing specialized knowledge bases
  • Developing and testing prompts and structured AI instructions
  • Mapping workflows, inputs, outputs, and decision points
  • Using Zapier to connect AI models, knowledge bases, data, and workflows
